Sarah Waterhouse was born about 1856, she married Alfred James Grace in Maidstone, Kent in 1874.
They emigrated to Otago later that year on the James Nicol Fleming and they settled in North Otago where they had three daughters.
When Sarah signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Enfield and Alfred was working as a railway ganger.
Alfred died at their home in 1902 and Sarah died at her daughter’s home in Oamaru on 24 April 1944.
They are buried together in the Old Oamaru Cemetery.
