Sarah Penn was born in about 1851.
She married Alexander Mathie, a blacksmith, in New Zealand in 1871. They had 12 children, four of whom died young.
The family were living in Richardson St, St Kilda when Sarah died on 3 December 1903. She is buried in the Southern Cemetery. Alexander died in 1928 in Auckland.
