Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Sarah Ann Lousley was born in Victoria, Australia in 1860 – the daughter of Silas Lousley and Mary Ann Cooke.

She came to New Zealand with her parents as an infant and they settled in Ōamaru.

Sarah married Lawrence John Stuart in 1879, they do not appear to have had any children.

When Sarah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Grosvenor St, Kensington.

Lawrence died in 1921 and Sarah died on 13 February 1938 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
