Annie Irwin was born about 1857.
She married George Thomas Scoones, a carpenter, on 24 May 1881 in Dunedin.
They had eight children, one who died in infancy, and when Annie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Selwyn, North East Valley.
Annie died on 27 November 1897 – she is buried with her daughter in the Northern Cemetery.
George re-married in 1899, he died in 1929 and is buried with his second wife in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
