Sophia Isabella Norton was born in 1856 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England – the daughter of Henry Dawson Norton, a carpenter, and Sarah Elizabeth Ann Scales.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1860 on the William Miles.
Sophia married Robert William Price, a plumber, in 1881 - they had four sons and one daughter.
When she signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Macandrew Rd, South Dunedin.
Robert died in 1932 and Sophia died on 9 August 1949, they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
