There is another Susann Clarkson in the family (nee Caygill), married to William Bowes Clarkson. She is more than likely the one on the first pages of the suffrage petition. Other women in the family were keen suffragists too.
My great uncle Dick Ballantyne married Susann (correct spelling) Clarkson in 1902. Susann was born in 1882 and died in 1925.
As far as I know the spelling with 2 ns is correct and is a family spelling borne by several of our family over the years, including myself, although I am not a direct descendent. No doubt Susann suffered as I have done with people mispronouncing and mis-spelling her name as "Susan"!
