Abigail Clarke was born about 1848 in Galway, Ireland.
She married Thomas Thomson, a marine engineer, in 1875 in New Zealand and they had eight children, three who died in infancy.
The family lived in Invercargill before moving to Queenstown where Abigail signed the suffrage petition.
Soon after this they moved back to Invercargill where Thomas died in 1907.
Abigail died on 3 March 1925, she is buried with Thomas in St John’s Cemetery, Invercargill.
