Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Clementina Wallace MacPherson was born in 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of John MacPherson, a farmer, and Jane.

When Clementina signed the suffrage petition she was living with her brother, a doctor, and his family in the Octagon, Dunedin.

She married Tracy Pengirven Wills, a chemist, on 18 April 1900 at her brother’s home.

They had two daughters and lived in Christchurch where, in 1912 Tracy died. He took his own life by swallowing acid 'it is understood he had been worried over financial matters during the past few weeks'. He is buried in the Linwood Cemetery.

Clementina later moved to Wellington where she died on 14 February 1942 – she was cremated and her ashes were interred in the Aramoho Cemetery, Wanganui.
