Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Annie/Anna Maria Treston was born in New Zealand about 1869, the daughter of Peter Treston and Mary McDonnell.

When Annie was ten years old she was admitted to the Caversham Industrial School, where she stayed for about five years. Her mother was in hospital and her father was incapable of looking after his children.

When Annie signed the suffrage petition, she was living with her family in Arthur St, Dunedin and working as a hosiery maker. Annie's mother, Mary Treston, also signed the suffrage petition.

She married Hugh Patrick Mulloy, a railway porter, in 1900. They had one son.

Hugh died in 1942 and Annie died in Christchurch on 26 March 1954. They are buried together in the Ruru Lawn Cemetery, Christchurch.
