Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Wilmot Hoskin was born in 1849 in Cornwall, the daughter of Uter Bosence Hosken, a joiner, and Wilmot Thomas.

She married John Trezise on January 7th 1871 in the Pendeen parish. They had a daughter before they emigrated to Canterbury in 1874 on the Stonehouse. Their second daughter appears to have been born on board the ship.

They settled in Ashburton where Wilmot signed the suffrage petition and they had a further two children.

Wilmot died on February 7th 1907 in Ashburton. John remarried in 1909 to widow Sarah Ann Blackburn.

He died the following year and is buried with Wilmot in the Ashburton Cemetery.

Sarah lived to the age of 101. She died in 1931 and is buried with her first husband in the Rakaia Cemetery.
