Catherine was born in Hokitika New Zealand c1867. The daughter of George Frederick Coper and Catherine Perry. Catherine is an interesting person. She maried William Couchman 11 May 1887. This was a double wedding with her sister Julia. Her husband William Couchman caught Pneumonia when working in a freezing works in Wanganui. She remarried George Alfred Shaddick and lastly her sister Caroline's widower Charles McPherson. At one stage she survived a middle of the night house fire with only the clothes that she was wearing and her children
