Arthur was a 3rd generation New Zealander.
His Father Charles Baker [Master Mariner] was born on Raoul Island 1838. He had 4 brothers and five sisters. His brother Valentine also served in the Boer War. His older brother George served in WW1.
Arthur was born in Opotiki 16 Sept. 1879 He died in Australia 18 July 1954.
Married Gertrude Margaret Fitzgerald in Sydney 3 April 1913 They had two daughters Alma and Clare.
