Biographical information provided by Ian St George for the He Tohu exhibition:

Annie Paddle Strathallan Lochhead (nee Inglis) was born in 1864 on board the ship Strathallan as it was travelling from London to New Zealand. She was named Annie Paddle for the wife of the ship’s captain, who likely helped deliver her, and also after the ship itself.

Annie’s father managed a run at Waipukurau for Henry Russell and later worked as ploughman at Takapau. Annie married James McIlwraith Robertson Lochhead (he too had been born on the voyage to New Zealand - see the comment below) and they had eight children.

Annie was 29 when she signed the Women's Suffrage Petition. Her father had known Hawke’s Bay School Inspectors William Colenso and Henry Hill, so Annie probably would have known Emily Hill, the Napier suffrage leader.

I think this lady's name was Anne Paddle Strathallan nee INGLIS. She married James McIlraith Robertson LOCHHEAD in 1889. She was born in NZ in 1864 and he was born at sea on the "Mystery" which arrived in Lyttelton on the 30th March 1859.
