Catherine PREECE nee TRUMPER b. ca 1856 d. 1909. Catherine arrived on the same ship 'Huntress' in 1863 as her future husband John Morgan PREECE. They married married 22 March 1878. Her family, like John's is recorded as coming from “Salop” = Shropshire. The TRUMPERs lived, like John, near Woodend, north of Christchurch.
Catherine and John were on such close terms that couple’s first child was born less than a month after their wedding. They had 9 more children, all born in Canterbury.
"Preece's Rd" just north of Pegasus is named for this family. They moved to South Taranaki in about 1901. In 1911 the family moved to Kaponga in Northland. John's newspaper obituary is startlingly inaccurate.
