Ellen Perry born at Wellington 17.03.1856. The third daughter of Bennet Pascoe Perry and
Mary Ann Masters. Bennet Pascoe Perry came to New Zealand with his parents on the
Amelia Thompson in 1841 from Cornwall England.

Bennet and Mary Perry settled in Wellington then moved to the Wairarapa where they had
bought land. Ellen being the baby was carried by her Mother as she walked over the
Rimutaka Hill.

Ellen and her younger sisters Elizabeth were both accomplished artists. In 1895 they were
advertising art classes in their home in Kirton St. Masterton.

Ellen studied art at the Academy Royal Antwerp in 1907 and travelled through Europe painting.
After the death of their parents Ellen and Elizabeth moved to Lower Hutt. Exhibiting her
art with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Art.

Ellen died on the 07.06.1945 in Lower Hutt and is buried in Masterton.
