Emma Maria JANES (née DALTON) was born on 10 February 1851 at Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England. On 14 December 1868 she married George JANES at St Martin’s Church, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
A son was born in in 1870. Emma, George, and their son George migrated to New Zealand aboard Wennington, departing Gravesend on 21 January 1874, arriving at Wellington on 28 May 1874. Their son William was born at sea, en-route to New Zealand.
Emma and George JANES had a further six children born in New Zealand, one of whom, Richard (Dick) died aged 17 years.
She died in Wellington in 1937, aged 85 and was buried at Sydney Street Cemetery.
