Born in Everness Scotland, Elizabeth (nee Barr) came to New Zealand in 1882 with her husband Thomas and four daughters, once here she went on to have eight more children. The family lived at Oamaru and Christchurch after that time.
``Mrs E.Watson, 53 Hills Road, St Albans, has received advice that her eldest son, Rifleman Jack W. B. Watson, died at Murren, Switzerland, on December 8. Rifleman Watson left New Zealand with the 4th Battalion New Zealand Rifle Brigade and served for a considerable time in France, where he was wounded and taken prisoner on February 22, 1916. Since then he spent twelve months in Germany and was being transferred to Switzerland at the beginning of the present year.''
