Ellen Elizabeth HILL. Native of Bromham, Wilts, England. Emigrated to NZ with family 1862. Parents, John and Martha SMITH of Bromham and in NZ,Otautau.
Ellen married three times. (1) James Finney ( one child); (2) James Woods (2 children); (3) William Hill, (3 children), Ellen signed the Petition.
She died 1913 and lies in the Riverton Cemetery, plot 1 Catholic section with daughter, Amy. Her children have many descendants throughout New Zealand.

Ellen had a number of siblings, some of whom became provincially, well known.
