Hello Mark, Yes I would love to get in contact about our Prestidges. Sorry it has taken so long to answer! I was poking around for other Prestidges and revisited this site. My email is entered below Hear soon. Thanks Sandra

Hi Sandra, I have a lot more details and family history for Jesse as he's a relative of mine if you'd like it.

Name: Jane Prestidge, Electorate: Selwyn, Number: 3323, Residence: Hororata, Occupation: Domestic Duties, Year: 1893.
Jane Prestidge (nee Dunkley) was born on 27 May 1827 in West Haddon, Northamptonshire, England, the 7th of ten children to John Dunkley and Jane (formerly the widow Westbury, nee Gardner)
Jane married Jesse Prestidge born Moreton Pinkney, Northamptonshire, on 12 Apr 1852, at St Andrews Church of England Rugby, Warwickshire, England, where Jesse had a cabinetmakers business. By the 1861 Census they were at 22 Riley Court, Rugby, running a Lodginghouse, as well as having 5 sons. A daughter was born in 1862, and on 4 Jul 1863, along with the six children, Jane's brother, Thomas Dunkley, and Jesse's sister Sarah Prestidge they left for New Zealand on the "Lancashire Witch" arriving in Lyttelton on 13 Oct 1863, sadly without Thomas Dunkley, who had died on 5 Sep 1863 of Scarletina Maligna off the Cape of Good Hope. The family settled in Addington where two more sons were born. Then at the request of Sir John Hall, of Hororata, Jesse went to build a sheep dip and other farm buildings. The family then purchased a farm "Riverlands" in Hororata where the 9th child, Joseph was born.
Because of the working relationship between Sir John Hall and Jane's husband, Jesse, and the influence of Kate Shepherd also a Christchurch resident, it was understandable that Jane would become one of the signatories to the Womens Suffrage Petition,
Jane and Jesse were involved in St John's Church of England, Hororata, and they are buried in the cemetery there.
Nelly E.C. Prestidge (nee Baker) also on the petition, was the wife of Jesse and Jane's son, Walter William Overton Prestidge
