Sarah Elizabeth Wiseman was born in Long Bennington, Lincolmshire in 1850. She married Alfred Fessey in in NZ in 1877 and they emigrated to NZ shortly after. They had one son Ernest who died in 1883 and Alfred died a few months later. She married Daniel Turner but remained known as Essie Fessey. They had two sons Nelson Wiseman and Albine Norman. Nelson died at 12 after being kicked in the kidneys while playing rugby.
