Amelia Ann Lees

I believe that the address is Wade, not Wade St. Wade was a settlement to the north of Auckland.

Amelia Ann Lees came to NZ with her husband Thomas, daughter Jane and son Thomas on the 'John Duncan' arriving at Auckland January 1864. (https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/DSC18640125.2.5)

Amelia, born in 1839, was the eldest daughter of William Sadler. She and Thomas were married on November 23 1857 at St Thomas's Church, Bullring, Birmingham. After arrival in New Zealand they went on to have eight more children - William, John, Amelia Annie, Frederick, James, Elizabeth, Mary Anne and Charlotte.

Thomas was born in Worcestershire in 1839, and was brought up to the gunsmith's trade in Birmingham, After a few months' experience in Canada, he arrived in Auckland by the ship John Duncan, and was engaged in storekeeping in Auckland for a time and in the Waikato for two years. In 1870 he engaged in farming in the Wade district, where he remained for 18 years, giving special attention to fruitgrowing. During his residence at Wade he started his sons in business in Auckland, and became senior partner in the kauri gum firm, Thomas Lees and Sons. Amelia Anne Lees died in 1912, and Thomas in 1922. Both are buried at Purewa Cemetery.
