Suffrage Petition signatory on SHEET 537.

Maria was born in 1849 in County Cavan, Ireland

A Widow with 2 children, Maria Stephens Harris married Samuel VOGAN (born 1848 at Cornasaus, County Cavan, Ireland) in Christchuirch in 1880.

Samuel Vogan adopted Maria's two children. Two further children were born to the couple in Christchurch.

Samuel and Maria owned a corner grocery store at 180 Strickland Street, Sydenham, Christchurch. They later moved to Harakeke Street, Riccarton, Christchurch. Samuel died in 1918, aged 70.

Maria Vogan died in Christchurch in 1928, aged 79 years.They are both buried at Sydenham Cemetery.
