Sophia was my great grandmother and arrived in Thames married and the first 2 of her family. The family became very much part of the gold rush days and in helping the many people that passed thru. Their home was the first venue for the Baptist Church. There are many family histories written for this and the Lovatt, Cooper, Dickenson and more. Today they are too numerous to count but the women are all strong active leaders and homemakers.
