Mabel Elizabeth Bailey was born in Worcestershire, England in 1874 – the daughter of George Bailey and Maria Cullis. (See 155 Mrs Bailey)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1879 on the Stadt Haarlem and they settled in Dunedin.
When Mabel signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Dalkeith, North East Valley.
She married farmer William Jennings in 1899 and they had five children.
Mabel died on 31 March 1950 at Woodend in Southland – she is buried in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
According to the probate of Mabel’s will William had died sometime between when the will was written in 1944 and Mabel’s death.
