Adeline Fanny Sears was born about 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of George (Tom) Sears, a coach driver, and Mellony Halls. (See 63 Mellony Sears)
When she signed the suffrage petition Adeline was living with her family in William St, Roslyn working as a retoucher.
She married John Bertie Hayward, a warehouseman, in 1899, they had no children.
Adeline died at her home in Christchurch on 2 August 1909, she is buried in the Linwood Cemetery.
John re-married in 1912, he moved back to Dunedin and he died in 1939. He is buried with his family in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
