Sarah McAllister was born about 1860 in County Derry, Ireland.

She was married, at some stage, to Mr McNeill before she emigrated to Otago in 1883 on the Wellington.

Sarah married William McConnell, a grocer and widower with 6 children, on 19 April 1889 in the Caversham parish, Dunedin and when she signed the suffrage petition they were living in Cargill Rd, South Dunedin.

William died in 1918 and Sarah died on 24 September 1945, they are buried with William’s first wife in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
