Ernest Barclay returned to NZ after the war, was discharged and return to South Africa around 1905-7. He married Louisa Sinclair from Perth WA whose brother had also been in the South African war and had returned there after being discharged in Australia. They had an only son Ernest who was born in Johannesburg in 1910.
