Hi Una, thanks very much for letting us know about this. We are sure you are correct, a close inspection of the original signature shows it could easily have been an 'M'. Also, on the 1892 petition 'A.M Sanders' is listed just above 'Bessie Sanders' - both from Dunedin.

Thanks for this site. I am querying this name as in 1893, my Great Grandmother, Anna Maria SANDERS lived in Maitland Street along with her daughters, one being Bessie. Do you think the "U" should be a M? I note where Great Aunt Bessie is on the roll along with Anna Maria. Please advise as I can not see the original paper. Thank you - Una in Christchurch
