Annie Seaman, born 1861 in Oxford, England, the youngest daughter of Thomas Seaman and Lydia Seaman (nee Morris) arrived in Auckland on the Andrew Jackson in 1865. With her sister Susie Mactier, known as the Lake poet and author of three novels, she worked tirelessly for the YWCA and the Temperance Movement.
