This Mrs Munro is likely my great-great-grandmother Jane Agnes (aka Wheneta Agneta), the daughter of Mary Cuthill and sister of Helen Cuthill also residents of Lees St where the Cuthills owned and ran a hosiery factory. She was born around 1858 in Valparaiso, Chile. In 1874 she sailed on the 'Timaru' to NZ with her mother and sister. Her occupation was listed as dressmaker. On 17th April 1884 she married George Munro, a monumental mason and son of George Munro who ran a monumental masonry business out of Moray Place, Dunedin. The elder Munro stood in the 1893 election in opposition to extending the franchise to women but was soundly beaten. After separating, Wheneta sued her husband for divorce in 1907. She remarried to Joseph Greatorex in 1908. After his death she helped run the hosiery factory with her sister Helen Cuthill. She died on 4th April 1920 and is buried in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin alongside her mother and her sister.
