William Hobson

William Hobson was lieutenant-governor from 1840 to 1841 and governor from 1841 to 1842. One of his first tasks on arriving in New Zealand on 29 January 1840 was signing the Treaty of Waitangi on 6 February that year.

I am trying to find more background info on William Hobson born in Ireland in 1793. Excerpts from a biography by K A Simpson gives some info but I was hoping you could point me in the direction of more Thnaks for any help
