Hi Maree - are you sure about this? According to his service record his mother was Mrs Mary E. Arnold - she appears to have still been alive at the time of his death in 1952 (by then she was living in New Brighton). Also, when he enlisted he gave his father's name as John Arnold, living in Cambridge. I've added a link to his service record now.

Father is Augustus Arnold, mother Lucy Bennett, born in Bibbenluke, youngest child. Was living in Childers, NQ (Aus) in 1908. NOK is Louis who resided in NQ, other family remained around the Monaro or Sydney. He is the only member of the family to have active service during WW1 or the Boer War. He appears to have married Veronica Teresa McCarthy sometime after 1911. Not known if he had any children.
