clydevale

Township on the banks of the Clutha River, 29km north-west of Balclutha. One of the major properties owned in the 1860s by the New Zealand and Australian Land Company - formed by the amalgamation of various unincorporated societies in Otago and Southland.

Meaning of place name
Named by the NZA Land Company in 1863 after the River Clyde in the east of Scotland.
