Farming locality 30km north-west of Oamaru. Traces of early Maori history have been found in the vicinity - ancient Maori rock paintings and the remains of the giant Moad birds which once ranged the valleys.
Meaning of place name
Named for George Duncan, Otago provincial treasurer. The first sections were sold on 14 October 1870.
