Township on the lower Clutha River, 5km east of Balclutha, Otago.

Meaning of place name
In 1871 Archibald Anderson, who was born in Stirling, Scotland, gave a large area of land to the Railways Department on the condition that the station be located near the northern boundary of his property, close to the Inch Clutha ferry terminus, and that it be named Stirling.
