Township and seaside resort on the south-western shoreline of the large tidal lagoon, Blueskin Bay, 20km north-east of Dunedin.
Meaning of place name
Named after the river. A corruption of Waitete, wai: river; tete: the name of the shoveller duck, and of the brown, grey and black teal.
