The director control tower of the Achilles, in which four ratings were killed and two seriously wounded by splinters when one of the Admiral Graf Spee's shells fell close to the cruiser.

My Father was a CPO on Achilles during the Battle of the River Plate, he was close-by when the shrapnel hit the directors tower, I have a piece of that shrapnel in my china cabinet it weighs about 3/4 of a pound, it has an easily read number and a few engraved 'icon' type markings, if someone wants further info or wants to see a photo they are welcome to contact me.
