Biographical information provided by Helen Edwards for the He Tohu exhibition:
Agnes Dickson (nee Dalziel), a twin, was born in Cadder, Lanarkshire in 1841 to handloom weaving parents Andrew Dalziel and Margaret Jarvie. In 1848 the family boarded the Philip Laing for Otago, where they settled and worked for John Jones at Waikouaiti. Eventually they purchased land in Brockville, which they and their descendants farmed until the 1970s.
Agnes married Falkirk cabinetmaker Thomas Dickson in 1866, and together they built a house in Hart St, Dunedin. Two of their daughters, Mary and Maggie (Margaret) also signed this Sheet of the Petition.
Thomas Dickson died in 1912 and Agnes died in 1927, aged 85.
