Dolina/Dolly Gordon was born on March 24th 1866 in Ross and Cromarty, Scotland – the daughter of Donald Gordon, a ploughman, and Marion MacKenzie.
She emigrated to Otago in 1878 on the Invercargill with her family and they settled at Clifton, near Palmerston, north of Dunedin.
When Dolina signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family working as a dressmaker.
She married William John Ingram Johnston, a blacksmith, in 1899. They had 2 sons and lived in Palmerston.
Dolina died in 1950 and William died in 1952. Where they are buried is unclear.
