Rachel Jamieson was born about 1821 in Scotland.
She married David Johnston, a farmer, in the 1840s. They had 6 children before David died in 1859.
Rachel emigrated to New Zealand in the 1880s with some of her children, possibly on the Nelson in 1880.
She settled in Dunedin, and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in Belleknowes.
She died at her home on July 31st 1911, and is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
