Hannah was born in 1871 at Normanby, Yorkshire to Sarah (former widow Stoddard nee Bell) and Thomas Pratt.  Her siblings were Maria Stoddard, Sarah and Ruth Pratt.  In 1871 the family resided at No 13 Kirkleatham.  The family departed England on the Hudson arriving in Wellington on 14 March 1879.  In 1891 Hannah married James McCaffrey.  Their children were Ada Sarah born 1892, John Thomas born 1894, James born 1896, Thomas born 1899, Arthur Stuart born 1903, Ruth Elizabeth born 1906 and Stella born 1908.  Hannah McCaffrey signed the 1893 suffrage Petition at Hastwell along with her mother Sarah and sister Ruth Pratt.  In 1896 Hannah and James resided at Mangamahoe, Wairarapa.  In 1938 the family lived at 58 Westminster Street then 31 Oxley Street St Albans, Christchurch.  In 1936 James died at Christchurch.  In 1949 Hannah McCaffrey nee Pratt died in Christchurch.
