Ruth was born in 1869 at Shildon,  Durham in England to Sarah (former widow Stoddard nee Bell) and Thomas Pratt.  Her siblings were Maria Stoddard, Sarah and Hannah Pratt. In 1871 the family resided No 13 Kirkleatham.  The family departed England on the ship Hudson arriving in Wellington on 14 March 1879.  Ruth Pratt signed the 1893 Suffrage Petition in Hastwell along with her mother Sarah Pratt and married sister Hannah McCaffrey.  In 1893 and 1896 Ruth resided in Hastwell, Eketauhuna.  In August 1896, at Denniston, Ruth Pratt married missionary David Hall.  During her life Ruth was a mother to step and foster children but had no children of her own.  David died 8 November 1907.  In 1911 widow Ruth resided at 464 Colombo Street Sydenham and in 1919 at 500 Worchester Street Linwood, then from 1928 to 1939 at 5 Merlewood Avenue Cashmere Canterbury.  Ruth Hall (nee Pratt) died 06 August 1940 Cashmere Christchurch.
