Ann was born in Cambridge, England about 1827. She arrived in New Zealand about 1860. She married Jonas Ward, a brewer, and they had three children.
The family were living in Oamaru when Jonas died in 1886. After that Ann and their two sons took over the family business.
Ann worked with Edward King until 1889 when the partnership was dissolved.
When Ann signed the suffrage petition she was living in Parkside, Caversham, Dunedin with her daughter Ellen.
Ann died on 26 July 1919. She is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery with her daughter.
