Te Wharekōrero signed the Waitangi sheet of the Treaty of Waitangi on 12 February 1840 at Mangungu in Hokianga. He may have been from Ngāpuhi.

He was possibly the father of Waitangi signatory no. 88, Rēwiri Te Tukiata.
