Ann McMurray was born on 30 September 1868 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of Alexander McMurray, a brassmoulder, and Mary Ann Wilkie.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1875 on the “Aldergrove” and they settled in Dunedin.
Ann married William Connor, a blacksmith, on 25 December 1888 at her home in Caversham.
They had nine children and when Ann signed the suffrage petition the family were living in South Dunedin.

William died in 1922 and Ann died on 18 February 1930 – they are buried with Ann’s parents in the Southern Cemetery.
