Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Annie Pountley was born in 1869 in Timaru – the daughter of Charles Pountley and Charlotte Melton. (See 149 Mrs Charlotte Hood)

Annie’s father died in 1873 and her mother re-married in 1881 and the family moved to Dunedin.

Annie married Charles Henderson Wood, a carter, in 1893 and when she signed the suffrage petition they were living in High Street.

They had two children and, in the 1900’s, they moved to Timaru where Annie died on 12 September 1911.

Charles re-married in 1916, he died in 1918 – they are both buried in the Timaru Cemetery.
