Catherine Eleanor McLaren, known as Tottie, was born in 1877 in New Zealand – the only child of James McLaren, a miner, and Eleanor Watterson. (See 246 E McLaren)
Eleanor signed the suffrage petition in Greymouth at the age of 16 along with her mother.
She died on 15 May 1911 – she 'had been ailing for some time, and her death was not altogether unexpected, although it came very suddenly in the end'. Catherine’s mother died two months later and her father died in 1923 – they are buried together in the Stillwater Cemetery.
