Emma Frances Chapman was born on 1 April 1859 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia – the daughter of Henry John Chapman, a grocer, and Sarah Christina Leader. (See 53 S C Chapman)
The family came to New Zealand about 1863 and settled in Dunedin.
Emma did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Filleul St.
Emma moved to Auckland in the 1900s where she died on 11 March 1930.
She was cremated and her ashes interred in the Waikumete Cemetery.
