Esther Moutray was born about 1849 in Ireland – the daughter of William Hugh Moutray, a baker, and Jane Cochrane. (See 246 J Moutray)
She emigrated to New Zealand with her family in the late 1860s and she married William Kittelty on 23 March 1875 on the West Coast.
They had 10 children, one who died in infancy, and when Esther signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Greymouth.
William died in 1913 – he is buried in the Karoro Cemetery, Greymouth.
A few years after William’s death Esther moved to Auckland.
She died at her daughter’s home in Mount Eden on 3 July 1930 and is buried in the Hillsborough Cemetery.
