Elizabeth Mary Clarke was born about 1834 in Ireland.
She married William Harvey Boase, a miner, in 1853 in Victoria, Australia. They had five children, two who died in infancy, before the family sailed for Hokitika in 1866 on the Alhambra.
They had a further three children after their arrival, two of these children also died in infancy.
The family lived in Greymouth where Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition, her daughter Annie (see 247 A E Boase) also signed the petition.
Around 1900 Elizabeth and William went to live with their daughter in Wanganui.
William died there in 1902 – he is buried in the Heads Road Cemetery.
Elizabeth died on 12 June 1915 - she is buried in the Hawera Cemetery.
